I saw some customizable sticker books featured on RealSimple.com today. Available on this website moo. Anyway, you can customize them to an extent, and they also have stuff like postcards, biz cards, etc. You can upload your own images, or you can use some ready made designs. I like some of these designs by "Snuggle Muffin."

Jason Miller Studio
Yesterday I was watching Ovation TV and they were featuring Jason Miller and his work. The ideas behind many of his project are very intriguing, and largely about highlighting the imperfect and trivial instead of concealing it. I.e. the Duct Tape chair, thinking about duct tape as a "badge of honor," and recreating strips of duct tape in leather. Or "Seconds," a series of china with misplaced birds, flowers growing down, cut up patterns. Here's some of his work. Definitely check out his website.

children's book illustration
I like these paintings done on wood panel as seen here. Strangely, can't find the artist's name anywhere on the site.

MyFonts / Jeanne Moderno
I got my e-newsletter from MyFonts this morning. I like this month's new "rising stars"... Especially Jeanne Moderno, below.
Steve Mehallo, the typeface designer, submitted a beautiful series of posters (a few shown below) to show how many "styles and periods can be evoked using this one retro-futurist family."

Cool New Artist: Jan von Holleben
Saw the work of Jan von Holleben on FFFFOUND! this morning. Love how he uses a static two-dimensionality to suggest motion and three dimensions.

Cool New Artist: Javier Jaen
I'm really intrigued by the work of designer Javier Jaen, recently featured on drawn! His use of puns and metaphors is really sharp and clever. His artist statement:
His work is in close relation with symbolic, ludicrous and two-sided languages, where subtractions and additions abound. He is interested in wordplay and the formal relations between literary and visual language. He looks for narrative and aesthetic scenarios within close and every day experienced contexts. His works involve techniques such as collage, appropriation, the object and image recycling.

Balloons
I love these two photos together, put side by side by the artist. The comparison forces the viewer to break down the objects into purely the elements of design: in this case, shape, color, size, value. As seen on my polaroid blog.
It reminds me a lot of this photo by Tiara Mia, as seen today on oh joy!
