Dogwoods have always been my favorite, because of their Trinitarian symbolism, because of our dogwood climbing tree in which I spent hours upon hours as a girl, because of the beautiful shape and color of the blooms. So many dogwoods blooming today in the cemetery where I walked, where history feels so near that it makes your whole soul swell with the weight of it.
