Latest Project: Garden Roses Tea Towels

For baby shower hostess gifts, I decided to try my hand at printing on fabric. I don't know why I haven't done it before now! For these prints, I designed and carved a stencil and either stippled or used a 4" foam roller to paint in the design on 24 x 26" Now Design floursack tea towels from Cook's Quarters.

Then I set the ink with an iron on high heat, front and back. After that, I folded them into thirds, rolled them, tied them up with yarn and a calligraphy nametag, and voila! Hostess gifts that were fun to make and are easy to use around the house.

Latest Block Print

This design was inspired by Swedish folk art (what else) and I originally planned the project so that I could donate 5 sets of 8 cards to the Etheredge Adoption Benefit tonight. The packaged sets are the ones up for the auction tonight. I think I'd like to give some of the remaining cards as gifts, or try to sell some on Etsy.

Christmas card 2008

I thought I might as well post a few pics of the Christmas card I did for 08 now that I have some decent pictures of it. Did a lino cut and used metallic bronze ink on an ice blue metallic stock.

Holly Meade. I love her work and was very inspired by it. Love the way she lays down form with color, then prints black on top... and look at the movement in the print with the 4 mermaids. Beautiful.
